In the sketch, Tom Hanks plays Aerosmith's roadie and cousin to Garth Algar (Dana Carvey). During a trip through Illinois, Hanks' character convinces Aerosmith to stop by Wayne Campbell's (Mike Myers) public access show. When the band finally heads downstairs for their "Wayne's World" appearance they answer some viewer questions and end the bit with a perfect performance of the "Wayne's World" theme song.
"I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" was written for the 1998 natural disaster film Armageddon which starred Steven Tyler's daughter Liv Tyler. The song was nominated for both an Academy Award for Best Original Song and a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Original Song, but lost both to "When You Believe" from The Prince of Egypt and "I Wanna Be Mike Ovitz!" from An Alan Smithee Film: Burn Hollywood Burn.
In one of their more head-scratching moments, Aerosmith decided to record the song "Lizard Love" for Rugrats Go Wild.
You're cryin' me a river but I got to get across
Lovin' you has got to be (Take me to the other side)
Like the devil in the deep blue sea (Take me to the other side)
Forget about your foolish pride (Take me to the other side)
Oh take me to the other side
