Otis Redding moved to Macon at the age of two. As a young boy, he sang in the Vineville Baptist Church choir and earned $6 every Sunday by performing gospel songs for Macon radio station WIBB.
Savannah native Isaac Gurdon Seymour was an 1825 graduate of Yale. With this credential in hand, he returned to Georgia and made his home in Macon, where he began a law practice. He would later became a newspaper editor, a bank president, and Macon's first mayor.
