Sophie the Stegosaurus is a young adult of undetermined sex, 5.6 m (18 ft) long and 2.9 m (9.5 ft) tall. The specimen, which was found in Wyoming, is 85% intact, containing 360 bones. It was put on display at the Natural History Museum, London in December 2014.

Along with Tyrannosaurus rex and Iguanodon, Stegosaurus was one of three dinosaurs that inspired the appearance of Godzilla.

In 1982, it was designated the official state dinosaur of Colorado--the state where the very first Stegosaurus fossil was discovered in 1876.
