The Poodle was bred to hunt in cold water, so hunters needed a way to keep them warm. At first, the dogs were left completely unshaven, but all that wet hair made it difficult to swim. Eventually, the Continental Clip was developed, leaving hair over important organs like the liver, kidneys, heart, and lungs, while shaving the rest of the body. A puff of hair was also left on the tail so the hunter could see the dogs if they went under water.
In 2016, Sailor the Poodle set the mark for the fastest dog to travel 10 meters on a walking globe, which is a fancy term for "giant ball." To achieve the feat, Sailor needed to traverse the 33-foot course in 35 seconds or less. He finished in 33.22 seconds.
