No one had more eight-point games than Lemieux. Only 16 times in the history of the NHL has a player tallied eight points in a game. Wayne Gretzky did it twice, Lemieux three times.

On March 12, 1966, Bobby Hull became the first NHL player to score more than 50 goals in a season, surpassing Maurice Richard's, Bernie Geoffrion's and his own mark of 50 goals. He would finish the season with 54 goals, a record he would break three years later with 58 goals in the 1968-69 season.

Mike Milbury gained notoriety following a 4-3 Bruins victory over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on December 23, 1979. During an on-ice fray between the players from both sides, a Rangers fan cut Stan Jonathan's face with a rolled-up program and grabbed his hockey stick. Terry O'Reilly climbed over the Plexiglas and went into the stands in pursuit of the offender, followed by Peter McNab and other teammates. Milbury, who had actually reached the visitors locker room when his teammates started going into the stands, raced back to join the brawl, caught the unruly spectator, and beat him with his own shoe.

Hall-of-Famer Dino Ciccarelli played 19 seasons in the National Hockey League, primarily with the Minnesota North Stars. He scored 1,200 points and 608 goals in his NHL career, the most goals by a draft-eligible player who was not drafted by an NHL team.

During his career, Daniel was known as a goal-scorer (150+ more career NHL goals than Henrik), while Henrik was known as a playmaker (150+ more career NHL assists than Daniel).

On February 22, both of the Carolina Hurricanes' goaltenders, James Reimer and Petr Mrazek, were injured during a game against the Maple Leafs. After signing a one-game contract with the NHL, 42-year-old David Ayres entered the game as an emergency goaltender. He allowed goals on the first two shots that he faced before stopping the next eight shots on goal, along with recording one shot on goal, to help seal a 6-3 win for Carolina over Toronto, the team whose minor league affiliate he worked for as a Zamboni driver and maintenance man. According to Sports Illustrated, he also became the oldest goalie to win a regular season debut and stayed on the ice for 28 minutes and 41 seconds, clocking the longest time in a game for an emergency backup.

New York Islander Bryan Trottier scored an NHL-record six points (four goals and two assists) in a single period against the New York Rangers on December 23, 1978. He finished the game with eight points (five goals and three assists).

Chance the Gila Monster (pronounced HEE-luh) is a venomous lizard native to desert areas in the southwestern United States. According to the team website, most gila monsters live in seclusion their whole lives and have little interaction with the outside world, but when Chance learned that major professional hockey was coming to Las Vegas, he emerged from his underground burrow at Red Rock Canyon and made his way to City National Arena in Summerlin to see what all the excitement was about. Like many newcomers to the sport, he fell in love with hockey and the Golden Knights.

Avalanche right winger Claude Lemieux checked Draper from behind, driving his face into the boards. The hit sent Draper out of the game and into the hospital with a broken jaw, shattered cheek and orbital bone which required reconstructive surgery involving his jaw being wired shut and numerous stitches. The Avalanche would upset the Red Wings in six games, eventually winning the Stanley Cup.

As the number 27 he wore in Chicago was already worn by Teppo Numminen, Roenick chose number 97, becoming the first player in NHL history to wear number 97.
