On The Flintstone Comedy Show (1980-82), his "secret identity" is Chester, an office boy at The Daily Granite newspaper. To disguise himself as Chester, Captain Caveman wears a pair of glasses and a tie. Despite the simplicity of his disguise, he requires a coat rack and an elaborate transformation sequence to become Captain Caveman.
When Bamm-Bamm is a teenager, Betty decides to go back to work, finding employment as a reporter at The Daily Granite, where she shares various adventures with the prehistoric Captain Caveman.
When Dee Dee, Brenda, and Taffy first discover him, the prehistoric superhero is frozen in a block of glacier ice. After they thaw him out, he becomes their constant companion and mystery-solving partner.
In one episode, when he is carded by a doorman who is unsure if he's old enough to let in, Captain Caveman responds, "I'll be 2 million next month."
Captain Caveman's powers include super-strength, a variety of useful objects hidden inside his hair, and a club that allows him to fly, usually with his trademark battle cry of "Captain CAAAAAVEMAAAAAAANNNN!" Unfortunately, this often backfires as his club runs out of power at the least opportune moments.
He has a bad habit of eating large, non-food objects in one gulp (i.e. bicycles, TV sets, table lamps, and, in the opening credits, a safe). The Teen Angels are constantly on guard to stop him from eating potential clues that will help them solve a mystery.
Captain Caveman lives inside an artificial rock formation on the roof of the Teen Angels' van. A wooden ladder with bones for rungs provides access to the "cave".
On The Flintstone Kids (1986-88), Cavey's mumbled "unga bunga" became a catchphrase that the kids would shout before watching each "episode" of the show-within-a-show.
