The only customer truly interested in the trouble-prone Magilla is a little girl named Ogee (pronounced "Oh Gee!"). In "Gridiron Gorilla," a football coach sees Magilla in the pet store window and recruits him to play fullback for the Lions. At first he's unstoppable, but the opposing team finds Magilla's weakness ... bananas.
In "Private Magilla", Magilla gets a letter saying he has been drafted into the army. Mr. Peebles is thrilled and rushes Magilla to the recruiting office. Magilla soon impresses his superiors with his strength and ability, and he is assigned to go on a special mission ... on a rocket to the moon!
Magilla enters a rodeo to win the prize money and keep Mr. Peebles from being evicted from his store. Using the alias "Montana Magilla", the gorilla breaks records in every event he competes in and takes home the prize money, but he unknowingly puts the pet store owner back in the poor house when he orders a truckload of bananas.
After he overhears Ogee telling a friend that the Purple Mask will be coming to her house, Magilla decides to dress up as Ogee's hero to help her out.
