When the Zentraedi Imperial Grand Fleet, consisting of nearly five million warships, initiated the Rain of Death, nearly 70% of the Earth was utterly destroyed. Dolza believed this to be total victory, until the Grand Cannon, a weapon of incredible destructive power, disintegrated a good deal of his armada.
Showing bravery and leadership, particularly in the Battle of Mars, Hunter was promoted to lieutenant and placed in command of the Vermillion Squadron, consisting of himself, Cpl. Maximillian Sterling and Cpl. Ben Dixon.
In an attempt to end the war quickly and decisively, General Gunther Reinhardt authorized the use of the new Neutron-S missiles at the Battle of Reflex Point. The Invid Regess reacted to these weapons by evacuating her people from the planet, destroying the missiles, and consuming much of the UEEF's reserve of protoculture in a single, mass transmutation.
The VF-1 Valkyrie series was the first Human designed series of Veritech fighter. Each Valkyrie had three modes, Battloid, Guardian and Fighter. It was the most versatile mecha used by humanity during the First Robotech War.
Minmei had a great following of Zentraedi. In fact, her musical performances and film appearances were largely responsible for convincing many of the enemy aliens to switch sides and join the SDF-1.
Minmei was held hostage for over a year before she was rescued by REF soldiers.
